The photographed moment captured in the mirror (seen below), occurred during a gathering to witness a fading reflection and destination reached. Stare long or close enough into any reflection, and details beyond those seen in a casual glance begin to emerge. So, carefully examine the detail beyond the surface, to catch a glimpse of the person whose reflection faded that day. His memory would not.

He was my friend and companion, my partner in crime (and all things mischievous), my cell mate for all crimes uncovered, my competitor and adversary in all things now insignificant, my political advisor and much more… He was my brother.

Even though we often chose divergent directions in the paths we traveled, we shared a close bond in life. I however, only started to view his passing as a fading reflection well after he was gone. Through his life celebration events, I was introduced to many people beyond our immediate family who knew my brother well. Not everyone shared his complete perspective on life’s issues. And yet, all shared a deep respect for the person he was.

You See…

Unlike the countless number of people in the world today who exist to absorb, my brother truly cared for those he knew (and often, those he did not as well). Thus, in his own way his life reflected back so much more than it absorbed.

As I was there to witness his journey end, I completely expect he will also be there to witness my eternity begin.
