“For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it lest, after he has laid the foundation, and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, saying,' This man began to build and was not able to finish. ….” |NKJV ~ Luke 14:28-31

Forgotten Dreams

My only friends are a whispering breeze,
grass that grows and the shade of trees.
…and perhaps the traveler passing by
seeing what once was, to ponder why,
a fate so cruel, this dream should die?
You see..
There are forgotten places not so far away,
left by faraway faces forgotten every day,
and forgotten dreams left alone to abide
by forgotten faces thru every country side.

Once without purpose and even less to show,
you imagined in me what I could never know.
Envisioning great plans with promises the same,
who could have known you were to labor in vain.

So go find a forgotten place, not so far away,
but not the faraway face forgotten in a day,
Only the forgotten dream lost through the years,
left by a forgotten face, stained with tears.

And, why did you leave me feeling empty inside?
..when for years I endured and surely never lied.
I made no promise to set your dreams to flight,
but you kept me soaring thru each passing night.

Yes, there are forgotten places not so far away,
abandoned by faraway faces forgotten every day,
And forgotten dreams never given a chance to fly,
deceived by forgotten faces no longer able to cry.

And, should a traveler linger in the passing sunlight,
there’s hope a new dreamer will make things right.
but when your shadow appears in the twilight cold,
I know my troubled story still longs to be told.

So come find my forgotten place, not so far away,
and perhaps become my friend for more than a day.
For a forgotten dream, yearns to speak from within
a story that ended before it could surely begin.
