When The Rains Cease
While composing life’s journal,
you’ll face pages you must write,
for which no apt words seem to flow,
whenever time drains to an arid night.
If in despair, you search in vain,
you’ll find no words at all,
for the insolence of a cloudless sky,
always denies the parched call.
When all appeared to be so good,
as the sun shone golden bright,
a dry wind drifted quietly in,
till it no longer felt quite right.
And, though at first not missed,
as they exist drifting thru air,
my thoughts n’ feelings slowly withered,
and I didn’t seem to care.
You see…
Thoughts and feelings are ever coming,
but at times will pause to show.
As when sometimes raindrops lightly falling,
reveal the perfect rainbow.
But, when none can be imagined,
or found in the mind fully spanned,
just look for dry cracks on the ground,
and you might understand.
So, what does a blind person see,
gazing into the drought of night?
Is it really any different,
then the gaze showered under light?
Surely the sightless thirst,
for visions words can clearly define,
those existing in reality,
and not held captive to one’s mind.
Yet, can I be judge n’ juror,
of that which I can not know,
while adrift in my own dry desert,
wandering to and fro?
And why is it just so…
that when life brings forth a drought,
we sometimes disparage our neighbor,
if only to quench, our own bitter doubt?
